Reboot
I am trying to revive this weblog using the pyblosxom weblog tool. As the name suggests it is written in Python, which is a plus, and has no obvious external dependancies. More importantly, pyblosxom makes very easy to generate and publish a weblog as static HTML pages, which is important to me because I am very distrustful of random web applications that I haven’t audited. Finally, the templating system is very lightweight and adaptable - some of the other Python weblog tools have intricate but pointless complexity in this area :)
The practical upshot of this is that I might be able to maintain this thing a little better.
In the time since my last post, I have read a few good books; some good science fiction from Alastair Reynolds - Pushing Ice and Iain M. Banks’ The Algebraist, and some good literature: Conrad’s The Secret Agent, Kafka’s The Castle and The Trial (brutal), Heller’s Catch 22 and Cervantes’ Don Quixote de la Mancha. I have also changed jobs, run my first Triathlon, finalised renovation plans and survived the first two trimesters of my wife’s pregnancy. So, we have been busy…
